Race Day Schedule:

Race Location: Big Creek State Park Beach, Polk City, Iowa

Transition Opens: 6:00 am

Transition Closes: 7:30 am

Race Start: 8:00 am (Waves start every 4 minutes)

Please Note: The parking lot at the beach will close at 8:00 am. Spectators arriving after 8 am must park within the park in parking lots (not on grass or along road).

Big Creek Tri 30 will serve as the USAT Midwest Regional Championships. We are excited to host athletes from around the Midwest. Athletes who place in the top 33 percent, or top five finishers (whichever is greater), at Big Creek Tri30 in each age group will qualify to compete in the 2010 Age Group Nationals in Tuscaloosa, AL. Athletes who compete in the Age Group Nationals race in Tuscaloosa, AL have an opportunity to compete in the World Age Group Championships.

Big Creek Tri 30 Offers:

  • 1.5K Swim: Beach, wave start, 1 lap, triangle shaped, clockwise swim.
  • 40K Bike: Flat, fast bike course; 3 water stations on bike course.
  • 10K Run: Run stays inside the park on paved roads and trails (2 - 5K loops).


Awards:

Top 5 Male and Female Athletes will receive cash prizes. 

Special Age-Group Awards for top three athletes in each age group. Age group categories are: Elite, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+, Clydesdale, Athena, and Collegiate.


Big Creek Tri 30 Speed Challenge:

We’ll award $1,000 cash to the first place male and female athletes to break our course record. The course record for males was set in 2006 by David Thompson with a time of 01:49:55. The course record for females was set in 2006 by Karen Holloway with a time of 02:09:10.

All athletes will receive a Brooks dri-fit race t-shirt and other goodies plus a post race party. Believe us - we do it up right!

We cannot guarantee race goodies for athletes registering the day before the race.

Individual Entry

Registration until July 8 is $100.00 (includes USAT one-day membership fee)

Registration until August 7 is $120.00 (includes USAT one-day membership fee)


Student and Collegiate Entry

Students and collegiate athletes receive a $10 discount off the entry fee.


Teams

Registration is $175.00 (Includes one-day USAT membership fee for each athlete)

A variety of multirace combo packages exist - check the registration site.


There will be no registrations accepted on race day!


Packet Pickup:

Note: You are required to pick up your race packet in person. You must have a valid drivers license to receive your packet.

Packet pick up will be Saturday, August 7, 2010 between 1 pm and 6 pm at the YMCA Healthy Living Center in Clive, Iowa. Please do not contact the YMCA with questions about the race.


Race Start Time:

8:00 am, waves start every four minutes. Wave schedule and assignments will be available at packet pickup.

Big Creek Tri 30 is a USAT sanctioned event. All USAT rules will be enforced.


Rules of Participation:

• Each athlete must attend a course talk, produce a photo ID and current USA Triathlon membership or receipt for your 1-day permit (purchased at time of online registration), and sign and submit the Event Waiver Forms.

• All athletes must pick-up his or her packet in person. Packets will not be mailed and can not be picked up by a person other than the registered athlete.

• Each competitor must wear a CPSC or, for helmets manufactured prior to 1999, ANSI or Snell standard helmet, and have it securely fastened while mounted on the bicycle.

• Only participants are allowed in the transition areas. No extra equipment (additional wheels, helmets, etc.) will be allowed in the transition areas.

• Use the toilets provided by the race. Anyone caught failing to do so may be disqualified and will not receive a refund.


Refund/Transfer Policy:

This event will be held rain or shine in accordance with USAT Triathlon guidelines and with athlete and volunteer safety made the top priority.

Registration Transfer Policy: No cash refunds are available for any reason. Options: (1) Entry fees can be applied toward another 2010 Flatland Multisport Series event if written notice is received at least 30 days prior to the event; (2) An entry fee can be transferred to another athlete by contacting race directors with a written or email notice from the original registrant and is received 14 days prior to the event. All transfers are subject to a $15 processing fee.

The Flatland Multisport Series multi-race discount (and all other multi-race discounts) are nontransferable.
